Road Trip to Jebel Jais: Reaching the Highest Mountain in the UAE

Jebel Jais, here we come!

A fun road trip with the fabulous Mallari family going to the highest mountain in the UAE. 🚗⛰️

November 30, 2017... nagkayayaan, nagkabiglaan, hindi planado... pero PANALO!

Napansin ko lang, mas madalas na ang mga hindi planadong lakad ang mas natutuloy at mas masaya. Walang pressure, walang masyadong expectations, puro good vibes lang.

... So ayun, nag-road trip kami!

It took us around 3 hours of travel, at papunta pa lang po 'yan. Jebel Jais is approximately 185 kilometers from Al Barsha, our starting point.

Ano nga ba ang Jebel Jais?

Bakit ba dinarayo ng mga tao ang bundok na ito?

Well, Jebel Jais is located in Ras Al Khaimah and is considered the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates, standing at 1,934 meters above sea level.

During winter, temperatures can even drop below zero. At ngayon, mas sikat na rin ito dahil dito matatagpuan ang world's longest zipline, perfect for thrill-seekers and adventure lovers.

Pero sa totoo lang?

Hindi naman namin pinunta doon para mag-zipline.

The Real Reason? The Road Trip!

Minsan kasi hindi naman talaga destination ang dahilan kung bakit masaya ang isang lakad.

It's the people you're with.

Masarap mag-road trip kasama ang family or friends. Yung tawanan sa sasakyan, kantahan, kwentuhan, at syempre ang pinakaaabangan sa lahat...

Worth It Ba?

Honestly, huwag kayong mag-expect ng bundok na maraming puno o mala-Baguio na tanawin.

Rocky mountain siya.

At first, baka isipin mo, "Ito na yun?"

Pero kapag nasa taas ka na, iba ang feeling.

Yung sense of accomplishment na nakarating ka.

Yung excitement habang paikot-ikot ang daan pataas.

Yung malamig na hangin.

At yung pakiramdam na parang konting-konti na lang at maaabot mo na ang mga ulap.

Simple lang, pero ang saya.

Minsan, hindi mo kailangan ng sobrang daming attractions para ma-enjoy ang isang lugar.

Minsan sapat na yung magandang view, masarap na pagkain, at mga taong kasama mo sa pagcreate ng memories.

And for us, that's exactly what Jebel Jais was all about.
